About the workshops
The Handmade Paper Factory in Kobyłka invites you to our demonstrations of papermaking, marbling, calligraphy, book sewing, and more…
Let’s travel back to the Renaissance!
Let’s try to hand-make a sheet of paper together using materials and devices recreated from the 14th and 15th centuries. Let’s hear a bit about the history of paper in Poland and around the world. During the workshop, you’ll learn about filigree and watermarks. You’ll discover the differences between parchment, papyrus, and handmade paper. Together, we’ll try our hand at marbling handmade paper – a unique, very ancient method of dyeing paper using algae extract. If you’d like, you can decorate a sheet of paper with calligraphy and a quill pen, and then sew a book on a bookbinding loom. You’ll leave the workshop with a sheet of handmade paper, a piece of dyed paper with fanciful patterns, and a handmade book/notebook– the work of the entire group attending!
You’ll feel like Renaissance explorers and researchers! Be as curious about the world as Leonardo da Vinci!
We would be honored by your presence!
